GUILLAUME CARREIRA

INSTRUCTOR

Hailing from Hawaii, Guillaume Carreira is a second generation dancer born from a family of professional performers & artists. It was literally in his DNA since birth. In 1997, he moved to Las Vegas where he entered high school as a dance major & refined his classical training in ballet, jazz & modern at the prestigious Las Vegas Academy of the Performing Arts. Guillaume began his professional career at 16 years old as a performer for one of the longest standing shows in Las Vegas, Folies Bergère at the Tropicana Hotel as a dancer/acrobat. To continue to expand on his career, Guillaume relocated to Los Angeles in 2001 where he booked numerous national commercials with American Eagle, AT&T, Coca-Cola, McDonalds, Toyota, Target & more as both a dancer & as an actor. The move to Los Angeles continued to be a fruitful pursuit as he has gone on to do multiple world tours including the critically acclaimed musical, STOMP. He has toured in all 50 states and in over 20 different countries. Most recently, Guillaume has been working in Las Vegas as a soloist in the Beatles “Love” by Cirque du Soleil for the past seven years at the Mirage Hotel & Casino. He has also choreographed for Cirque du Soleil including their annual show One Night for One Drop with John Legend, as well as Michael Jackson ONE at the Mandalay Bay. Guillaume is also a co-founder of the world famous breaking crew “Battle Born” where he has won a number of national and international competitions with his crew including the Sup3rcrew Anniversary & World of Dance San Diego as well as winning the titles of R16 World Bboy Qualifying Champions in Seoul, South Korea & Battle of the Year USA Qualifier Champions which brought them to compete against the top teams in the world in Montpellier, France. His love for dance has transitioned into a passion for dance education. He has taught for the prestigious Joffrey Ballet Company over the last few years alongside with his brother Etienne Carreira & both brothers are also faculty instructors at Millennium Dance Complex Las Vegas where they teach weekly. In 2019, both Etienne & Guillaume opened up their own dance school the Alchemy Breaking Academy (formerly known as “The Breaking Academy) The program initially focused on teaching breaking techniques for students from kids to adults & has now grown into multiple extensions of dance concepts in their pursuit to bring breaking to a much wider student base, pushing students who normally focus on choreography in classical dance styles to really think & dance “outside the box” to diversify their movement vocabulary. Guillaume continues to enjoy sharing his experience & knowledge both on & off the floor with dancers of all experience levels & all ages. His unique background in transitioning from a classically trained dancer makes him so well versed & helps make what seems like a completely intimidating dance style much more approachable.
